Dan Pierce is the first registered Maine fishing guide to guide exclusively tenkara. He specializes in group and one on one instruction of tenkara techniques as well as on water guiding. Trips are available throughout Maine with many being based out of Fox Carlton Pond Camps in Phillips, which is in the heart of the abundant small streams of Western Maine.
From Dan:
"Maine is my home state, where I guide and fish the waters for beautiful native brook trout, landlocked salmon, and smallmouth bass. I am passionate about teaching tenkara, and outside of guiding, my full-time job is as a counselor at a local middle school. When people asked at fly fishing shows where they could find a guide in Maine, I saw an opportunity and jumped on it! Tenkara is great for people who are new to the sport of fly fishing because there is a quick learning curve if you have someone knowledgeable with you. I specialize in instruction for both children and adults and would look forward to sharing tenkara with you."
